In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, there are many opportunities to serve, give, and help. In order to keep our relief efforts organized and to keep you informed on what the church is doing (and how you can help), we have created this page. We’ll update it as new opportunities become available.

Aug. 30st - 9:00pm: SERVICE UPDATE - More bags of food delivered
Tonight about 75 people from our Tabernacle Family and our Ennis community came out with donations to pack bags for more evacuees staying in Ennis hotels. Over 150 bags were filled and most of them were delivered. We are currently waiting to see what the next need will be.
At this time, we are asking you donate by giving to GLOCAL Missions. For the remainder of August and the month of September, all GLOCAL gifts will go to disaster relief. Giving to GLOCAL will also assure that we have the freedom and ability to meet the needs of this fluid situation.
We will continue to monitor the local situation and may change our request or a number of days for this project, but we will keep you updated on this website and our text system.
Aug. 30th - 3:00pm: DONATION NEED - Give to Glocal for Donation Needs
This morning, we delivered bags of food to displaced people staying in Ennis hotels. The need for this is constant. Please continue to donate until further notice.
We will be continuing to deliver bags of food for the next day or two as FEMA and other relief agencies finalize a plan. This food has ALREADY been purchased in bulk with your GLOCAL donations. This has allowed us to purchase a greater quantity at a lower cost.

Aug. 30th - 2:30pm: SERVICE UPDATE - Foods donated & delivered
Many of our Tabernacle Family along with some members of the Ennis community gathered in our Welcome Hallway at 10am to sort donations into bags. We took about 75 bags full of individually packaged and non-perishable foods to a few of the Hotels in Ennis.
Many people accepted the food with gratitude. Some asked us to save it for others who might be in more need. We also delivered some to the hotels’ lobbies.
We couldn’t bring supplies to each Hotel in Ennis but are doing what we can. The hotel management at the various locations told us that this is a constant need and that people are checking in and out daily.
Aug. 29th - 4:45pm: DONATION NEED - Non-perishable foods & Volunteers
*Please forgive the conflicting information from the previous update.
The Needs:
- Non-perishable foods by 10am tomorrow (Wednesday)
- People who can help us pack/distribute bags at 10am tomorrow (Wednesday)
A specific need has been identified for displaced people staying in Ennis hotels.
Tomorrow at 10am, we will be packing bags of non-perishable goods for individuals and families who are staying in a local hotel. We will be packing 52 bags with foods that can be microwaved or individuals opened and do not need plates/bowls to eat. Examples:
Microwaveable
- Easy Mac (Microwaveable cups)
- Ramen Noodles in a cup (not square pouches)
- Oatmeal
Non-Microwaveable
- Cheese / Peanut Butter Crackers
- Granola / Nutrition bars
- Chips / Cookies / Snacks
Aug. 29th - 4pm: Update - Please give to GLOCAL instead of bringing donations
At this point, we are asking you to give to our GLOCAL fund instead of donating supplies.
We want to thank everybody who is willing to donate at this time. Because the needs change so quickly, because we don’t have a place to store donations, and because we don’t have a way to quickly disperse donated goods, we are asking that you give to the GLOCAL fund instead of bringing donations to the church office.
We want to be good stewards of what God has given us. Good stewardship is giving to those in need, but it is also giving responsibly to have the greatest impact. We are working with a few churches and Baptist groups to better understand the specific needs. If that means giving money to these trusted organizations, we will do that. If it means waiting a few days to get supplies that might be unavailable in South Texas, purchasing them here, and driving down with them, we will do that as well. Either way, THANK YOU for giving and thank you for being the church in this difficult time.
Aug. 29th - 11am: Rescue Team
Another team left to go assist rescue efforts. Pray for Kody Alvarez and Andrew Webster as they make their way to the affected area.
Aug. 29th - 9am: Donations Received
We have received a large amount of water, diapers, and paper towels. Thank you, church family.
Aug. 28th - 4pm: Loading Red Cross Supplies
Mike Sellers, along with Mike Harrison, will be taking our Salvation Army cots along with other supplies to assist in setting up a shelter in Humble, TX. They will be there overnight.
Aug. 28th - 10am: Rescue Team
Monday Morning, Pastor Todd and Rick Barber left with a boat to go rescue people who may be trapped in their homes.
