Questions

  • From Last Week – What do we mean by “Christian Liberties” or “Christian Freedoms”? What types of things can be considered Christian liberties?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 9:8-12 and discuss all the reasons Paul says to pay the pastor.
  • Why was Paul so concerned about removing obstacles in the way of the Gospel of Jesus?
  • What kinds of obstacles do you think you and I need to remove that might hinder people meeting Jesus?
  • Things like what we do with our time, tv consumption, money, etc… will be our liberties.
  • Read 1 Corinthians 9:19-22, what does it mean to become all things to all people that we might win some? Give examples.
  • What do you need to become to reach your neighbors, friends, and the people your kids go to school with?
  • Does the phrase, “to those outside the law I became as one outside the law,” mean that if people are living sinfully I should do what they do in order to fit-in and win them to Jesus? Who do you know that “[becomes] all things to all people” well?
  • If you have a friend who is of a different culture, you can embrace their culture as long as it is not sinful.
  • There is a training and self-discipline required to earn the reward of winning people to Jesus. What does your training regimen look like? What do you do to prepare yourself?
  • Do you feel equipped to share the Gospel? What does that even mean?
  • What does the statement, “let your liberties be limited by love,” mean?
  • It means we, for the sake of love, are willing to remove anything that gets in the way of someone coming to know Jesus.
  • How could imposing rules on other people’s liberties end up in legalism/ or become oppressive?
  • Pray together- Start praying for God to put one person or family on your heart to introduce to Jesus orbring to Church with the new “Whose Your One” campaign.
