Captivated By Christ: Galatians

Galatians 6:1-18

Church Vision Statement

We are a biblically rooted church that wants to help you overcome life’s emptiness through a deeper relationship with Christ and a connection to a family who cares.

Read: Galatians 6:1-18

6 Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you are not tempted as well. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks that he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting, but ]to himself alone, and not to another. 5 For each one will bear his own load.

6 The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a person sows, this he will also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will reap destruction from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. 9 Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary. 10 So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

11 See with what large letters I have written to you with my own hand! 12 All who want to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they want to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh. 14 But far be it from me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new [h]creation. 16 And all who will follow this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

17 From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

Week Review:

  • Were you able to have a conversation about Jesus this week with anyone or did you make a connection that you believe can turn into an opportunity to invite or invest in that person eternally?

Transformation Questions:

  • What has been your biggest takeaway from the book of Galatians?
  • The law of Christ is the law of love. What is the law of love and how do you know if you are keeping the law of Christ?
  • Give an example of a time that a believer (not just a friend) stepped in to help you in a time of need.
  • One of the calls of being a Christian is to bear one another’s burdens. Christ is our great example, how did Jesus bear other’s burdens in His life? How have you borne the burdens of others? (It is ok. You aren’t bragging.)
  • What kind of needs do you find yourself more inclined to help with?
  • What kind of needs do you believe you might be hardened to? Why do you think you respond that way?
  • Do you ever bear someone’s burden in prayer? What is that like? Is that something that you are comfortable with?
  • Do you ever find yourself thinking about the spiritual struggles of others and praying for them? Go around the room. When was the last time you prayed for a lost person?
  • Do you feel like you are someone who is good at showing gratefulness and appreciation? Who is someone that has been good to you that you can show appreciation to this week? How will you do it?
  • Who is someone that you need to show gratefulness to and maybe have not? How will you do it this week?
  • Paul tells us not to be discouraged in doing good works. How do you fight against discouragement in your ministry?
  • Read verses 6:7- 8. What things are you doing to reap spiritual blessing?
    • The next question is a practical guide to reaping spiritual blessings.
  • The holidays are coming. Let’s think about how we can leverage the season to identify, invite, invest, and pray for people.
    • Go around the room: Who are some people you can identify in your life right now that do not know Jesus?
    • Pray for the names.
    • Go around the room: What is one thing that you will do this week to invest in that relationship or what is one thing you can do to get them closer to Jesus; either inviting them to Church, sharing a sermon, or inviting them personally to know Christ.
