Church Vision Statement

We are a biblically rooted church that wants to help you overcome life’s emptiness through a deeper relationship with Christ and a connection to a family who cares.

Ice-Breaker: Read both questions at the same time.

  • Some of us were without water, internet, electricity, and other amenities. What is the worst amenity to be without?

Read: 1 Peter 1:1-5

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Week Review: Looking back over the Plus One Series

  • What was your Plus One? Do you have multiple plus ones?
    • Prayer meeting, fasting, reaching out to the lost, creating a personal devotion time.

Transformation Questions: Since no one met last week, I left some questions about forgiveness. Forgiveness is an application we should not skip.

  • Last Week
  • Give an example of needing to receive forgiveness from someone. How did you feel knowing you needed them to forgive you because you had done them wrong? How vulnerable did it make you feel? How did you feel after they forgave you?
  • Give an example of when you had to forgive someone? Explain how you felt before offering forgiveness and then the release you experienced after you forgave them?
  • Who has the Holy Spirit put on your heart that you need to forgive? What is keeping you from forgiving them?

This Week

  • Peter is writing this to believers in persecution. Why would God allow His people to live in persecution?
  • Does it make you uncomfortable to think that God allow the persecution to come and in some cases He never delivered them in this life from their afflictions?
  • Why does Peter refer to believers as aliens or pilgrims? Why is it so important for these believers in persecution and believers today to know we are pilgrims passing through the earth?
  • Why is it hard for us to remember this is not our home? Why do we so easily get distracted from this truth and what are the things you feel like distract you?

Reaching the World Check-in:

  • Who is one person you know in our community that is an unbeliever or disconnected from a church family? (Go around the room)
  • Easter is 7 weeks away. Do you think you could get that person to come to the church between now and Easter?
    • Lifeway Research Poll in 2017 shows 71 percent of unchurched people polled indicated they would attend if invited by a friend or family member.
  • Easter Sunday, we will be doing a dramatization of the Cross Service, where Pastor Todd will be acting out the story of the man who built the cross and shares the Gospel. How many people do you think you could get to come to the Cross Service?
