Announcement Leaders ONLY:

I would like to have another training in the month of May, maybe on a Wednesday night. If there are any dates you know are a no-go for you please let me know, I would like to schedule around it so you can be there. I will have snacks… Please message me and I will put out a date in the next week or two with a date that works with most people’s schedules.

Church Vision Statement

We are a biblically rooted church that wants to help you overcome life’s emptiness through a deeper relationship with Christ and a connection to a family who cares.

  • What is the most important thing you ever slept through or because you overslept you came in awkwardly late?

Read: 1 Peter 2:13-20

13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,

14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.

15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.

16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.

17 Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.

18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.

19 For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly.

20 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.

  • Who is the one person you have identified that you want to lead to Jesus? Have you made any progress?

    Transformation Questions:

    • Why do you think as Americans this idea of submission to the government is so difficult? In which areas do you find yourself struggling to submit?
    • We live in a democratic republic, so we get a say in what goes on in our country. How can we disagree vocally/publically and in our spirits and it not be sinful and still submit? (Let’s try not to point fingers at the other guy we disagree with instead think about yourself and people like you. Talk about us not them.)
    • When do you think we move from public discourse to rejection of authority?
    • When can you disobey with authority based on what the Bible teaches?
      • Acts 4:19-20, 5:29 “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God.For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” 5:29 Peter says, “We must obey God rather than men.”
      • “So on matters of the Gospel and morality, sometimes we must dissent from governmental authorities to obey God, but even how we do that represents Christ.”- Todd Gray
    • Do you find it hard to pray for your leaders? Do you omit this command from scripture because it is not your guy?
    • Think about your work life. How in the past or currently do you struggle with submitting to your boss?
    • What does it say to your coworkers about Christ and your testimony when you gossip about your boss or you are defiant?
    • Read 1 Peter 2:18-20, have you ever had a boss or a leader who was unreasonable and treated you harshly? How did you respond? Do you feel like your patient endurance found favor with God?
    • In a situation when we are treated harshly like the question above mentions, often you will not find vindication or see the situation improve without changing jobs. Have you ever experienced a situation where you endured patiently and God did vindicate you?
