This text taught us that (1) we lack peace because our desires are focused on ourselves. We need to be free for our own selfish desires. It also said that (2) we do not receive because we do not ask, and when we ask, we ask wrongly, to spend it on our passions (James 4:3). Finally, it shows us that (3) God desperately desires a relationship with us, if we are willing to live for Him.
