Meet Our Student Pastor Candidate

Cason Key

Hey Tabernacle Family,

My name is Cason Key. I grew up in Jasper, AL. I graduated from The University of Alabama with a B.A. in History and a minor in Sociology. I spent my undergrad pursuing the education route to become a teacher, coach, and an athletic director. My last semester at UA, God laid the call to student ministry on my heart on a mission trip to New Orleans. I still remember the exact moment God put it on my heart. Instead of pursuing my Master’s at UA, I enrolled at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary to pursue a Master’s of Divinity. While at NOBTS, I have grown so much in ministry with the help of mentors, friends, and professors equipping me to do the work that the Lord has called me to. I also worked full time as the Recreation Director on the NOBTS campus and served as the Youth Pastor at Lakeshore Church while living in NOLA. While in these roles, I was able to develop more as a leader and understand more of the gifts that God has given me to expand His Kingdom.

Also while at UA, I met my wife, Emily! Even though it took some convincing for her to go on a date with me, she finally agreed to go on a date in March of 2019. I proposed to Emily in July 2020 and we got married in July 2021 in McKinney, TX. Emily is from Coppell, TX and loves the Cowboys (she still believes Dez caught it). She also loves to disciple younger ladies to grow closer to Jesus. My wife and I are excited for what the Lord has in store through the ministry at Tabernacle!
